What level should we take?
Our language classes are based on age. For enrollments during the academic year, please use the age of your child as of September. Level 1 is for children newborn - 18 months. Level 2 is for toddlers 1.5 -3 years. Level 3 is for children 2.5-4 years. And, Level M is a multi-age class for children 0-4 years. It's a great class for siblings or families who appreciate a wider age range. All of the above classes include a caregiver.

During the summer, we offer two levels. Our Babies class is for infants under 18 months. Our Families class is a wonderful opportunity for children 0-4 years to learn together in a multi-age setting. Small class sizes ensure your child gets a lot of personal attention at his or her own level.

Just Kids classes are for kids old enough to enjoy coming on their own. They are divided by age into 3-5 year olds and 5-7 year olds. Children must be fully potty-trained.

How young can we start?
As soon as you're ready. We've had babies who are only a few weeks old join our classes. After all, we speak to our children from birth, so it's a wonderful time to add a second language. We have plenty of ways for caregivers to participate with their babies. Music, sounds and sights stimulate even the youngest brains!

My child is 3 - should we do a Level 3 or a Just Kids class?
Their are advantages to both options. Parents who are excited to learn with their child may want to stay in a Level 3 class a little longer. For kids who are ready to come on their own, we've seen the children thrive and their language blossom as they interact directly with their peers and the teacher in our immersion format. The children in all of our classes have various levels of exposure to a language. Some families have never spoken a word of the language, while others have a native-speaking caregiver. All children thrive with the personal attention in a class.

Tell me about twice/week? What will I get out of it?
Coming twice per week offers your child greater exposure to the language. The children we know who have come twice per week show more rapid gains in proficiency. Children love repetition, so the familiarity of the routine also makes for extremely participatory students. Perhaps most importantly, twice weekly is twice the fun!

Can I take two different languages?
Yes. Taking more than one language is a chance to expose your child to the sights and sounds of multiple languages and cultures. This may also give your family the chance to decide which language to choose for your focus.

Do you have classes for siblings?
Yes. Our level M (multi-age) classes for children 0-4 years of age are perfect for siblings. During the summer, our Family classes are also ideal. We offer a 10% discount on a sibling's tuition whether they attend the same class or different classes.

I'm going to miss a few classes. Do you offer make-ups?
Yes. We offer up to 3 make-up classes per session on a space available basis. We ask that you let us know ahead of time of any planned absences if at all possible. We then schedule make-ups so we have no more that 9 students in a class. Please email makeup@spongeschool.com to let us know of absences and to schedule make-ups.

I'd like to see a class. Can I try one?
Yes. We offer trial classes on a space available basis. If you are interested please send your child's name, date of birth, any allergy information and your telephone number to info@spongeschool.com or call us at (206) 227-7138 or at (425) 274-5188. If you are interested in observing a class as a solo adult observer we are also happy to accommodate you. Please email info@spongeschool.com with your name, child's name & date of birth and the class that you are interested in observing.

Which days are you open/closed?
